SideFX Houdini FX 18.5.351 is combines high performance and ease of use to provide visual effects artists with powerful and affordable tools to create feature films, commercials, or computer games. With procedural node-based workflows, Houdini allows you to create more content faster to shorten wait times and get increased flexibility in all your creative tasks. Houdini is ideal for visual effects artists and technical directors with particle systems and dynamics. Houdini FX includes a complete set of tools for studios who wish to use them for other tasks such as lighting, animation, or procedural modeling.
- FILM / TV
Make more shots under tight deadlines while achieving feature film quality results. From Bullet Rigid Body destruction, to Pyro FX flames and fumes and FLIP fluid fluid, Houdini’s procedural workflows let you work at a very high level of detail to create bigger, more explosive visual effects. Houdini’s artist-friendly node-based workflow makes it easy to respond to director feedback and make changes at any time, even deep into production.
The same procedural workflows that have made Houdini a leader in the film and TV industry also make it a great addition to any game production environment. Game developers and artists love Houdini for it features film-quality FX, procedural modeling, terrain and environments, asset placement, level building, and rapid prototyping – and leveraging the Houdini Engine to apply the tools created as Houdini’s Digital Assets to studio-wide artists.
- MODEL, RENDER, ANIMATE
Houdini FX includes end-to-end production quality features – including modeling, animation, character cheating, lighting, rendering, compositing, and volume. Digital Assets created on Houdini FX can also be opened, animated and displayed on Houdini Core.
- SEA FLUIDS & FX
Create realistic sims using forces such as surface tension, viscosity, and visco-elasticity. Particle fluids can be generated at a geometric level to produce high quality splashes while fluid forces are used to create the white water effect.
Whether you are creating dust and debris or a flock of birds, the particle tools at Houdini allow you to define a clear set of rules using a simple network of knots consisting of source, force, tow and collision object.
- PYRO FX
With Pyro FX, the Fire and Smoke simulation looks more realistic and is faster and easier to set up. Fast simulation speed allows for more iterations. The ability to simulate using the GPU takes things to a whole new level and the advances in volume rendering create an impressive final look.
- ELEMENTS UP TO
Finite Element Breaker analyzes the pressure on an object, then deflects or breaks it. FEM can also be used for a gentle body effect with volume preservation. This solver takes simulating digital destruction, and sticky slimy objects, to the next level.
- BULLET RBD
In Houdini FX, you can use the Bullet Rigid Body solver to create simulations of very complex large data sets. These solvers and Houdini solvers themselves work with a variety of forces, constraints and collisions for complete control.
Position-Based Dynamics is a multi-physics environment ideal for wet and dry sand creation. PBD solver can run on CPU or GPU using OpenCL. In addition to the sand effect, artists can create solids, sheets, or fasteners to produce soft simulations of body, cloth, and wire.
- WIRE & FEATHER
Ideally suited for simulating hair and feathers, the wire breakers in the Houdini FX can also be used for other types of thin shapes. Control cables with attributes such as thickness, length, stiffness and curvature for added control.
The crowd tool uses artist-friendly racking tools along with packaged new primitive agent types, Finite Condition Engine breakers, hardware acceleration display of instant crowd, controls for crowd layout, steering, collision avoidance, terrain adaptation, motion mixing, and display- on target.
